........................................................Series Roller Coater Principle of Operation

The roller opening is adjustable to take any thickness of stock from 100 lbs book to 1 1/2" thickness (special wide opening coaters are available). The UV coating liquid is dispensed into the reservoir formed by the rubber coating roller and the chrome doctor roller. Felt pads at the roller ends prevent overflow. The UV coating overflow is recirculated by a peristaltic pump from the bottom catch tray and returned to the upper dispensing tank. By adjusting the doctor roller away from the coating roller, the thickness of the coating liquid is regulated. Once adjusted, the stock is fed into the rubber coating roller and final adjustments can be made for precise applications. A scraper blade is necessary to prevent residue on the drive roller from depositing on the bottom of the stock. In addition, the air blast system is required to prevent thinner stock (100 lbs book) from wrapping around rubber coating roller. Roller coater runs at speeds up to 300 ft per minute
